Payments

Please click here to update your credit card info.
All students are required to enroll in our auto-billing program. This is a secure, convenient way to pay for lessons. Once you are enrolled, your credit card will be charged on the first day of each month. Monthly payment amounts will vary depending on the number of lessons each month.
Zach Field Drums & Music reserves the right to suspend or discontinue instruction for any student who has not made a payment by the second lesson of the month. It is the students’ and/or parents’ responsibility to ensure we have the correct credit card information on file.

Student Absences

There are no makeup lessons offered for missed lessons. If you cannot attend your regularly scheduled lesson, you will be charged.
Extended illness or injury will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Teacher Absences

We will always do our best to provide a high-quality substitute if one of our teachers is absent. If a lesson is cancelled, students will be notified by both phone and email, and a credit will be issued for the lesson.

Adult Flex

Adult students must put a card on file. Lessons will be charged weekly. If you cannot attend your regularly scheduled lesson, you must give 24 hours’ notice to avoid being charged for the missed lesson.

Holidays, Vacations and Snow

Please see the Zach Field Drums & Music calendar for details on holidays and vacations. Both locations are closed on federal holidays and Newburyport school vacations. In case of inclement weather, all morning classes will be cancelled if the Newburyport schools are closed. Please visit the website for cancellation notifications.
We honor religious holiday observances and provide credit when given advance notice

Summer Flex

Our school schedule runs through the end of June.  The Summer Flex Schedule (July and August) allows students to reschedule a lesson with a minimum of one week's notice at no charge.  The auto-pay program will continue as normal and will run at the beginning of each month.  If you know you are gone for a certain week, we can try to double up the following week or adjust your auto-pay.

Frequently Asked Questions

You don’t need a drum set to get started.  Take some lessons with us and when the time comes, we can help you find the perfect drum set for you.  ZFDM often has used, entry-level drum sets for purchase when the time is right.

Every student/teacher team sets different goals depending on age and ability. To determine practice goals, having that talk with the teacher is best – it’s easier than having a discussion between the parent and the student. Trust us.
Anywhere between 6 and 100 years old is a good time to start private lessons. We also offer Pre-K classes for kids ages 3-5.
Always bring a pen and notebook with lined paper so your teacher can write down your practice work. Have an instrument already? Bring that along too! If you’re just starting and not ready to purchase, take a lesson to see how you like playing the instrument – your teacher will let you play their instrument. And drummers, we have sticks available for purchase if needed.
We sure do! Whether you’re looking to play with a jazz group, rock band or something else, we offer many ensemble opportunities. To see a full list of our groups, head to our groups page.
*To be eligible for a group, students must be enrolled in private or semi-private lessons.
If you’re looking to spend time with your child by learning an instrument together, our semi-private lessons are a great way to build that relationship, have fun and pick up a great talent!
